they were inattentive schoolboys
crude remarks and accidents on purpose

My cut-and-shut dream machine
had a Ford Mustang at the front
and a Cadillac at the back. I can
still hear those tyres scream.
It broke my heart when it fell
apart on Interstate 5, just a mile
short of the Mexico border.
I was doing 160 miles per hour
at the time, so I guess I’m lucky
to be alive, despite the amputation.
